Frederic Lepage
Frederic Lepage is writer and producer of several hundreds of TV shows and documentaries. His first feature film, Sunny and the Elephant, was released in France in december 2008.
Career
Literary career
Frederic Lepage has written books that have gained worldwide acclaim, such as The End of the Seventh Day,[1] and Hidden Memory.[2] Both were published in several countries, including France, Germany, Japan or Greece. He has also written several essays on diverse topics from science (Les Jumeaux : Enquête) to gastronomy (A Table avec Chirac[3]), via an anthology of the most beautiful prayers in the world.[4]
In 2008, he created a series of children's novels. Two volumes have already been published, Elephant Camp and La Malediction de Mara,[5] with the third one coming out in October 2009. The series, "Micah et les voix de la jungle" will become a TV series in 2011.
His novel Le colloque des bonobos was released in march 2011. It is inspired from his first play of the same name, which should be played in France in 2013.
TV career
- At the beginning of his adventure, Frederic Lepage was a journalist and a producer at TF1. After working at Antenne 2, he set up his own production company, XL Productions. The company grew rapidly and quickly became known for its innovative programming. XL Productions has produced a wide range of programs : giant music shows (Fête de la Musique for TF1), children's shows like Le Disney Club, TV games in 1990 and a literary panel discussion, Ex-Libris, hosted by France’s number one evening news anchorman, Patrick Poivre d'Arvor). Then Frederic Lepage managed the Documentaries Department of Télé Images.
- With the seminal Untamed Africa (1996), Frederic Lepage pioneered a new way of wildlife-documentary making, working with director Laurent Frapat. The twelve-hour series received worldwide success in more than one hundred countries. Other series followed, making a magnum opus of almost sixty films and some of the greatest hits in nature films: Untamed Amazonia, Untamed Australia, Untamed Asia, Untamed America.
- In 2005, he wrote and produced Burn Rome, a drama documentary film that takes us to the heart of Rome, in the times of Nero. For the production, a meticulous reconstruction of first-century Rome was built in the Tunisian desert and included a cast of more than a thousand people.
- In 2009 and 2010, Frederic Lepage wrote and produced EXTINCTIONS, a very ambitious 6-hour international documentary series.
- In 2011, he wrote and produced "The Last Chance Tiger" and "Six feet under the Savannah".
- Frédéric Lepage is also the author-director of the successful politics feature « Dinning with politicians » , showing how we can deduce politicians ideological orientations from their culinary habits. Another movie from the same collection, « political animals » has been broadcasted in 2010 (France 3).
- Frederic Lepage's corporation, which gathers Jukurpa Medias, FL Concepts &co and Stratus Factory has made the acquisition of Interscoop in 2010, a press agency created in 1983 by Frederic Laffont and Christophe de Ponfilly. Frederic Lepage also detains a musical edition company, A440.
- Sunny and the Elephant is the first feature film of Frederic Lepage. It is an adventure film made for family audiences worldwide, and was shot in Thailand, in regions close to Burma.[6] It was released worldwide in 2008. The original soundtrack was composed by Joe Hisaishi.

- Frédéric Lepage is a member of the Mult-Médias Institute and Seminary.
- In 1993 and 1994, Frederic Lepage was one of the four experts commissioned by the French Minister of Communication to develop the project of the Learning Channel now known as France 5.
- Through his collaboration with Le Public Systeme group, Frédéric Lepage has been one of the Manaus Festival organizers since 2005. His company, FL CONCEPTS, is the advisor of several groups and institutions for their communication strategy.
Private life
Frédéric Lepage lives in Paris and Bangkok.
